Hydrate Gate

1. Introduction

Hydrate Gate ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Hydrate Gate mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information. By using the App, you agree to this policy.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

Hydrate Gate does not collect, transmit, or store your personal data on our servers. The App is designed so that your data stays on your device.

3. Data Stored Only On Your Device

The App stores the following information locally on your device to provide its features:

Hydration logs – Amounts of water you log and when you logged them.
Daily goals and preferences – Your chosen units (oz/ml), daily goal, and earn rate (e.g., water per unlock minute).
Screen Time / app selection – Which apps you choose to gate (stored using Apple’s Family Controls APIs on your device).
Unlock sessions and earned minutes – When you unlocked apps and for how long.
Insights and badges – Streaks, weekly summaries, and badges, derived from the data above.

This data is not sent to us or any third party. It remains on your device and can be removed by deleting the App.

4. Optional Apple Services

The App may use the following optional features if you grant permission:

Apple Health (HealthKit) – If you enable HealthKit, the App can write water intake to the Health app. That data is governed by Apple’s privacy practices and stays in your Health database on your device (and your iCloud if you use Health in iCloud). We do not read or receive this data.
Screen Time / Family Controls – Used to gate selected apps until you earn time by logging water. App selection and gating are handled by iOS on your device. We do not receive lists of your apps or usage.
Notifications – For optional hydration reminders. Notification scheduling is handled on your device.
Motion (Beta) – If you enable the optional sip-detection feature, motion data is used only on device to help detect drinking gestures. This data is not sent to us.

5. No Selling or Sharing of Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. Because we do not collect your data from the App, there is no data to share with third parties for advertising or marketing.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

All data described above is stored only on your device. If you delete the App, that local data is removed. We do not retain copies.

7. Your Rights

You can:

Stop using the App and delete it to remove all local data.
Revoke HealthKit, Screen Time, Notifications, or Motion access at any time in your device Settings.
Contact us with questions or requests regarding this policy or the App.

8. Children's Privacy

Hydrate Gate is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective Date" at the top will be updated when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the revised policy.
